So, I saw a question about seeing priorities on the storyboard, etc., but I just want to know how to set a priority for an issue I have in the backlog. As of right now, I am only able to set priorities for the child issues within the issues on the backlog and that doesn't seem to make sense to me.
Forgive me if I'm missing some rules of Project Management here; I'm not trained in it or Jira, I'm just trying to figure out a way to make it work.
For context;
I work with an external dev team, and I would like to create the list of backlog items and set a priority on them at the top level, so that the devs can effectively plan the sprint without me being present. I work as the UX Designer and it makes more sense to do it this way.
Is there some process or feature I'm missing here? Ideally I could just set the priority and move forward, but open-minded to other suggestions.
Hello @Keith Murray
If you click on the issue key in the left panel for WWD-71...
...then WWD-71 should display in a new browser tab or pop-up. You should then be able to edit the fields of WWD-71 if you have the right permissions and the field is present on the screen.
The Priority field will usually appear in one of the panels on the right side of the issue when you are viewing it.
If you don't see the field, look for the More Fields panel and expand that. Some fields will be in that panel when they have been marked to be hidden when empty.
If you still don't see the Priority field, then it may not have been added to the screen for that type of issue. In that case, if you have enough permissions, you would need to click on the Configure option (shown in the screen above), search for the Priority field in the panel on the right (1), and drag-and-drop it into the center section to add it to the screen(2), and then save your changes (3).
This was it, thank you! I figured it was in configuration, but I completely missed the search all fields option.

Hi @Keith Murray , I am guessing that this might be a Team Managed Project? If not you can configure the board's card layout and add the priority field.
