Hide some fields on the Create issues page

chernandez March 4, 2025

Hello! I'm configuring the fields of the issue types in a project, and I would like to know if there is a way to not have some fields visible on the Create issues page, since not all of them are mandatory to fill in at the beginning (some are for "standby" type states) and they make the creation page very long. Any ideas? I'm trying to test what is indicated here but I can't do it. Thanks

Hey @chernandez

You can use separate screens for create and edit/view operations. Then you can add only the required fields on the create screen.

Here are the reference documents to update your screens:

Manage screen schemes.

Thanks!

Thanks! I'm in a team managed project, and I can't access to the Jira Settings, only to the project settings... is there a way to do it there?

Hey Chernandez,

Unfortunately, we don't have separate screens in team-managed projects. The fields can be managed via Project Settings > Issue Types only, which is the same for create, edit and view operations.

Thanks!

In team-managed projects, you can click on the 3 dots on the create issue screen, and go to Configure Fields.

Select Custom fields from the drop-down and select the fields you want to display on the create screen.

Then you will get only the required fields on the create screen.

However, this is a user level configuration. The fields you set or remove will not take effect for other users and they will still see all the fields configured under Project settings.

Thanks anyway Karan!
