Find unused issue types and display them in the issue statistics widget or similar

Using Jira Core Server, and wish to see the unused issue types the same way as the used issue types are seen in the issue statistics widget.

In case this is only available by querying the DB, how can this data be acquired and displayed in a widget or any other understandable view?

Any suggestions are welcomed.
