Deleting Issue In Jira Backlog Navigates to Issues View

Whenever I attempt to delete an issue from a project's backlog, I am brought to a full page confirmation screen and once confirmed, the application brings me to the overall issues screen outside of my project. If I then navigate back to my project, I get an error saying the issue I am attempting to view is no longer available (obviously because I deleted it). This seems like a pretty convoluted way to perform the simple action of deleting a ticket. Am I doing something wrong?
