Deactivating a user - no active check box

Palka Mistry October 31, 2012

Hi

I'm trying to deactivate a user in JIRA. I've retrieve the 'Managing Users' article and following the step by step instructions.

I've selected the user, then clicked the edit option.

In the instructions, it states that I need to clear the active check box and hit update, however, ther eis no active check box on the page? Help!

Thanks

Palka

Hi Palka,

you are most likely using an slightly outdated Veriosn of JIRA, the "deactivate user" was introduced only on JIRA 5.1. In order to achieve this in your JIRA Version, please follow the instructions detailed on this page of the official documentation.

Hope that helps? Cheers, David

Hi David

Thanks for your response. I've followed the instructions and removed the user from any roles and from being a user but she still is included in the total count?

no, the good thing is that your user (iff "deactivated" as stated above) dies not count into your user limit for your license. However, he/she is still wisible as user, but connot log into JIRA.

Which version of Jira are you using?

The possibility to deactivate is rather new. I think you have to have JIRA 5.1.
