Dashboard Queries on JIRA Version 7.3.1

Roja Gurram July 6, 2020

Hi Everyone,

Can someone suggest me for the below questions whether it is possible for JIRA Version 7.3.1 or not ?

1)  When configuring gadgets, is it possible to exclude weekends so that the gadget shows only working days? - If so which gadget.

2) Are there any gadgets that show when a ticket has made any transitions in a workflow? So for example, a user can see when tickets have moved between different teams?

3) When ONE (Say TEST Team) team have completed their tasks on a ticket TEST project the ticket transitions to ‘Done.’ However sometimes this ticket is re-opened by another team and the process is completed for a second time. Is it possible for the two transitions to be represented as two issues resolved in a dashboard for ONE Team ( TEST TEAM)?

4) Can the dashboard be emailed automatically every month or every week?

Your help would be highly appreciated!!

Hi Roja,

Some of the things you're asking for are available out of the box, others will need an app.

1) It would be helpful if you could be more specific on the type of charts you're hoping to see on your dashboard, for example when you're asking about excluding weekends, I assume you're looking for some sort of time series or burn-up chart. What you're looking for may or may not be available out of the box.

2) You can use JQL to find issues that have moved from one status to another and you can add date parameters to your search. However if you're using a transition to simply update a "team" field and leaving it in the same status, then this won't work

3) Depending on how you build the dashboard and your queries, an issue can count in two places, for example, it could count as resolved in a query for each team. However, if you're asking if one issue can count as resolved twice in the same query, then that's definitely not possible out of the box.

4) This is definitely not available out of the box

It sounds like you would definitely need apps. If your questions are mostly around testing work, you may want to look into test specific apps such as Zephyr or Xray as they provide UX for tracking test executions and also will include testing specific dashboards and reports.

I should also add that on an older version of Jira, you may have some issues finding compatible apps. Are you sure you're on 7.3.1?
