Hello, I just started using Jira.
We created a new Jira Project which is completetly empty so far. Now we would like to move multiple issues, that are currently related to an other, already present project, to this newly created project. Instead of copying all the information of the one issue, deleting them and create new issues in the new project - is there maybe a possibility to achieve this movement of issues from one project to another?
Thanks in advance for your support.
Kind regards,
Marius
Hi @Marius Rees and welcome to the Community.
You can "Move" issues from one Project to another. Depending on what Jira hosting type you are using, the "Move" button could be under the "More" menu or in the elipses (...).
You can also use the "Bulk change" to do this move. You do your JQL search with all the issues you want to move, then click on the elipses (...) and click on "Bulk change...". I recommend doing one issue type at a time.
Issues can also be moved from one issue type to another.
Hope that helps,
KGM

Hi @Marius Rees
normally you can just move those issues to another project with the homonymous option. If somebody uses the old issuekey he should be redirected to the new project. If you want to move multiple issues you should consider writing a filter first and then use the bulk change function of Jira.
But keep in mind that the fields for the issuetype in the old project should be available in the issuetype of the new project or else you might lose information while moving them.
If you really need these tickets in both projects you can copy them and then simply move the copy to the other project.
Kind regards,
Rigo
