Change names of default issue event by using custom event - what for those unrelated to workflows?

Daisuke Niwa July 28, 2011

Hi there,

In JIRA, when you prefer other event names than the default ones, you can do following.

1. Create custom event.

2. Associate it with notification scheme and workflow post function.

This way, you can effectively change the name of "issue created" to (let's say) "bug filed", and when you receive the

notification e-mail, the latter will be used as a part of mail subject.

However, what can we do about events unrelated to workflows such as "issue commented" "work logged" etc?

Can we still use different event names and e-mail subjects for those? If so, please let us know.

Regards,

Daisuke Niwa

This is not possible at the moment I guess. However, if you are worried only about the email, you can modify the mail templates associated with these events and send the new subjects.

Checkout customizing mail content documentation.

Jobin, thank you for your response. I understand your suggestion, however our customer do not wish to modify vm files as it's basically outside of Atlassian technical support.

In any case, many thanks to your support.
