Can customers access a business project thru customer portal?

Hello ,

 

I have set up a business project. My question is, if customers can access the project thru the customer portal? Or is that only posible if the project is a service desk project?

The portal depends on the project being a service desk project - that's the point of the project type!

The JIRA version used is 7.2.1
