Need to add a field "SF Case Status" to one of our projects. I want to check once if the field gets added, will the existing/old JIRA tickets reflect that change and will I be able to use that in my filters and dashboard?

Hi @Sadaf Oakasa and welcome to the Community!

When you add a new field to a project (and to the screens used by the issue types in that project), you will be able to use that field on both new and existing issues in your project.

However, if you want to add data to the field (also for old issues), you will need to update the issues. They won't suddenly have values that were not there before, of course. But you could use Jira's bulk update feature, for example, to also add values to your older issues.

Hope this helps!

In addition to what @Walter Buggenhout said, if you make it required the next time a previous issue is opened you will be required to update it.
