Can I sort a kanban based on the priority of the epic which the board issures are "in" ?

Stephen Casey February 16, 2018

I have project Kanban boards configured that show lists of tasks that are "in" various epics, but don't show the epics themselves. Our process means that we rank and prioritise the epics and so the tasks have their epic's priority.

This prioritisation value (a number) is held in a custom, calculated field on the epic.  Higher means higher priority (WSJF if anyone's interested).

Is it possible to automatically sort the tasks in a board based on this field?

E.g. order by Task.Epic.WSJF DESC

I guess two questions.  1. Is this possible with just Jira?  2. Is this possible with ScriptRunner or Calculated fields?

Thanks.
