BigGantt: linking issues through import

Hey community!

I've imported a large amount of epics and tasks to several projects in Jira.

I now need to link these together in BigGantt to create a correct timeline. I can do this manually by dragging the link between each tasks, but I was hoping that there were a solution using either bulk change or Jira import.

All tasks are imported in the order they should be linked, so it should be a quite straight forward Excel/CSV task. (:

Have anyone tried this?

Best,

Stine

Hello Stine

Unless you have BigTemplate, an export/import extension to BigGantt, and I guess you don't, you're dealing with two issues here:

1. I'd guess I'd need to have those issues somehow linked in Jira. The Excel/csv file would have a column such as 'Issue link' with values, such as 'Relates', and I would attempt to have those issues linked in Jira based on that field.

2. Then you can map your Jira links to BigGantt links, as pictured below.

I'm not familiar with the 1., never did it, but I can try, if you need further assistance.

Hey @Marcin Geb _SoftwarePlant_ !

Thanks for the reply. I did manage to import the tasks with the correct links, but they do not show up in BigGantt.

I mean - the tickets are linked if you check a task, but the links are not showing in BigGantt. We imported 1500-ish tasks, so it's quite a lot. What could be done to make the links visible?

(I have tried to clear cache and fix integrity errors with no perfect result.)

Stine,

If, for instance, you have Jira 'Relate' link between any given tasks, I would select 'Relate' in the 'End to start link', the one I underlined in the above screenshot. Then 'Save', and I would expect the links to appear in your Gantt chart. Have you tried this?

Marcin,

No, we imported directly with the "End to start" link.

Therefore, there are no differences between a task where I have manually created the link in BigGantt and the ones that are imported.

Hey @Mateusz Sołowianiuk ,

We ended up raising a ticket at your support, but it took too long to make the fix, so we did it by hand. The support says it was fixed, but we have not had the need to import like this again, so I actually don't know if it was fixed.

Hi @Stine Søndergaard

I am certain that the bug was fixed as our QA Team performs multiple tests before releasing the hotfixes to the production environment. That being said, you should not experience such a scenario in the future.

Wishing you a great weekend,
