Backlog not showing on the sidebar

In my board, I can only see Kanban Board on the left sidebar but I could not find the Backlog.

How could I configure in order to show the Backlog on the left sidebar.

Thank you

If you add backlog to any of the columns in the Kanban board other than the first, you lose it from the menu. If you put backlog back in the backlog column of the kanban board in board settings>column management, it will return to your sidenav. Just in case others who have done the same thing are searching for one reason why backlog might disappear from the sidenav.

This solved the issue for me as well

Well i do not find any "Backlog Status" under columns. So dragging another status to backlog will activate it but it will be chaotic, since certain tickets will not appear in the board for that particular status.

Hello @Cindy Tan

Please see the following links to the docs, which explain as to how to "enable" the Kanban backlog and how to then start using it.

Use Kanban backlog

https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirasoftwareserver0710/using-your-kanban-backlog-953146528.html

Enable Kanban backlog

https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirasoftwareserver0710/configuring-columns-953146423.html#Configuringcolumns-enablingkanbanbacklog

@Tarun Sapra  User is unable to see scrum backlog option on the bar, how do we enable so that user can see that backlog option.

Confusion almost set in, but figured it out. Not very intuitive though.

When peeps here tell you to drag the status into the Kanban Backlog column, they mean literally drag it away from the board's column called Backlog and drop it on left blue/green panel.

And then Ta-daa! Magic.

Hi @Cindy Tan,

It seems that you are using a Kanban board instead of a Scrum board.

There is no independent Backlog screen in Kanban. All eligible issues are automatically displayed in Kanban and do not need to be managed by sprint.

The links below describe some of the differences between them:

Hello @Ollie Guan_携程_

The Kanban boards do support a "Backlog" view in Jira. We don't need to use scrum board for backlog view as Ops teams that generally use Kanban mode can use the backlog view. I have shared the links in my answer for the JIra server.

@Tarun Sapra,

Thank you for your correction, this mode is already supported in the new version of jira!

Thanks @Ollie Guan_携程_ and @Tarun Sapra,

I am looking for the 'Backlog' selection on the sidebar as in picture.  Thank you.

Hi @Cindy Tan,

If you are using Jira Server v7.4 and above, you can refer to @Tarun Sapra's comments, which is enabled by the administrator.
