I’m setting up an automation rule in Jira to send notifications when an issue moves to a custom status, but for some reason, the rule isn’t triggering as expected. The automation is set to activate when an issue transitions to “In Review,” a custom status we added to our workflow, but nothing happens when the status changes.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

  • Verified that the rule is active and correctly configured with the “Issue Transitioned” trigger.
  • Confirmed the transition to “In Review” is recorded in the issue history.
  • Checked permissions to ensure the rule actor has the right access to the project and workflow.

Is there a specific configuration required to trigger automation rules on custom statuses? Or has anyone encountered issues with the “Issue Transitioned” trigger not firing for non-default statuses? Thanks for any help!

Hi @deen james

Welcome to the community.

Is the rule scope set to the correct project?
