Jira Cloud question
Our process model requests that once complete an issue is to be archived. Completing an issue requires all kind of approvals and validations, therefore archived issues are no longer to be resurrected.
We might have hundreds of issues rolling on and off project. Issues are created, actioned, then completed.
In my current understanding of Jira, the issues board would become burdened with closed issue.
I am interested in archiving such issues; however, further requirements would be:
I am seeing a lot of conflicting detail around this subject. Would anybody have a method, means, or thoughts about how such archiving might be achieved.
Cheers
Hello @Barry Neilson
What is the project type of the project referenced in the board? Get that information from the Type column of the View All Projects page under the Projects menu.
What is the board type? Scrum, kanban, or the board for a Business project or Service project?
Hi Tudy,
The project is a Team-managed business.
It seemed the easiest type to get familiar with Jira. The board was whatever Jira setup. but I suspect Kanban.
I am researching company managed business also, but we need for individual users to manage their own issues so, we're not yet sure which way to go.
Cheers

Hello Barry,
For a Business project issues will be hidden from view on the board automatically when they have been transitioned to a green/done status 2 weeks or longer ago and have not otherwise been updated in the past 2 weeks (hidden when Updated is older than 2 weeks AND Resolved is older than 2 weeks).
This is not configurable. It is hard coded (currently) for all Business projects.
That hiding also affects the results displayed on the Summary page.
It does not affect the List view.
The issues still exist and can be found through any of the normal filtering options.
Does that satisfy your needs?

Thanks Trudy.
It's good to know. I thought it would be a little more complicated than that, but if it's done automatically, then it seems to solve the issue.

@Barry Neilson @Trudy Claspill manual trigger is very needed in this case, sometimes we want one task to be archived immediately, like bug issue type for example, hardcoding this was a very bad idea!

You seem to have your own separate Question to ask about the functionality.
Do note a difference in terminology. Jira has a feature specifically for Archiving issues which makes them no longer come up in any search results or display on any board or list or dashboard. That is a different feature than the "hiding" of completed issues from a board.
