Hi,

With the new upgrade of the server we plan to get away with one subTask. I no longer want users to add new subtasks so how do I disable that option in an Issue. However I still want the users to search on that Subtask type to view the content of any existsing issues.

So Requirement

  • Allow users to view that patricular sub-task
  • Do not allow the user to edi the sub-task
  • D nott allow the user to add new sub

Thanks

I don't think this is achievable. You can only disable sub-task if there is no sub-task exists in your instance. If you wish to have a specific permission such as create Sub-Task permission, please refer to this improvement request here: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-8521

Thanks I figured out that I cannot do that, i have other sub-tasts as well.

However I did the following as a workaround not clean but works

Workflow changes

  • Deleted all the transitions from the workflow keeping the states intact (Users who are searching the issues will be able to see the state of the original issues)
  • Closed all the States of the workflow (editable=false) (Users will not be able to edit the issue irrespective of the state of the original Issues)

Screen Scheme changes

  • Changed the screens for EDIT & CREATE to have no fields at all
  • VIEW kept the orginal screen so users that are searching will be able to see the old issues

Pros

  • My users will be able to searh the existing issues and read the contents of the issue

Cons

  • They still see the option to add the Sub-task but when they try to add they will see a blank screen that will throw an error

Not a clean solution but i think workable given the scenario. if anyone has a better solution please do suggest
