Hello! We use the Kanban board with a backlog in our team. We would like to have a section of the backlog where we can add the items that are groomed and ready to go next into "selected for development", so a step between backlog and "ready for selection".
Is this possible?
Hi Juliana - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
We use a status called Backlog Pullable (which would be your Selected for Development). It is the step immediately following the Backlog status and represents the issues that have been groomed and are ready to go. This becomes the first column on the board as Johan says (we actually call it Options, but it can be whatever you want to call it). Just make it a To Do status category.
Ready for Selection would then be the second column on your board.
Thanks, we might try this! We're also considering setting up a separate board for planning, so the team don't have to see the whole backlog on the board they're working on, only the groomed items. We try to keep the actual board (selected for development --> Done) only containing items that they're working on the current week, but we like to groom for about 2 weeks ahead (and even more now during summer time)
Thanks again, appreciate it!

Great! - thought about the suggestion of an additional board, also. But most don't like having to switch back and forth. I think it is definitely a viable option in many cases.
Good Luck!
