REF: JIRA 4.3.4
Hello,
just wonding if there is any way to get the default activity stream in JIRA to stream info from a category rather than a specific group of projects?
Obviously when we add new projects to our JIRA instance we don't want to have to manually configure each activity stream to include them.
All the best,
Dave
Hi David,
Yes it is possible to have it by project category, the Activity Stream is configurable to show the Activity from a filter. So you could create a filter with 'category = xxxxx'
A little late but hope this helps!
How do you configure that? I only have the ability to choose a project...

My bad, I misunderstood the filter section. It looks you can only create a filter with project, issue key, updated date, activity, username and issuetype. Have you already searched if there's an plugin for this?

For example, you have the Activity Stream Report where you can create the filters, but I'm not sure if it is a gadget an it is only for v4.4 and older.
Here it is some documentation.

Have upgraded to V5 where you can implement a filter in the activity stream. Fixed :)

Had to unmark this as an answer sorry Ramiro but my activity stream gadget only seems to let me create a filter for some very restricted things. Currently they are:
I can't quite see how to apply one of my saved filters...? How would I show an Activity stream for a particular project category...?
Stumped :(

seems like there are 2 activity stream exist. Try using the gadget search function when adding the gadget. One of them have the 'project' global filter one of them doesnt

Hello everyone, you can check out our latest Jira plugin that gives the possibility to add filters to the Activity Stream using basic or jql queries.

This plugin is really useful, if you have not yet checked it out.

Did you ever find a solution? Our company is looking into making a plugin that would cover this functionality.

do it! - activity stream filtering by component would be great

I would prefer a solution by Atlassian, because we use already JFS, which replaces the activity stream plugin of JIRA with a modified one. I fear that this would then be incompatible with your solutin, Raymond.
