Customizing Card Covers in Jira Business Projects

Customizing card covers in your Jira boards can enhance visual organization and help your team quickly identify issue types or priorities at a glance.

For more detailed information, you can also refer to the official Atlassian documentation on Customizing Cards in Jira.

How to Add or Change an Issue’s Card Cover

To personalize individual issue cards on your board, follow these steps:

  1. Hover Over an Issue: Navigate to the board and find the issue you want to customize. Simply hover your cursor over the issue to reveal more options.

  2. Select More Options: Click on the ••• (more) icon that appears on the issue. This will open a dropdown menu with additional actions you can perform.

  3. Edit Cover: From the dropdown, select Edit cover. This option allows you to modify how the card appears on the board.

  4. Choose a Color or Upload an Image: You will have the option to either:

    • Choose a Color: Select a color from the palette to apply as the card cover.
    • Upload an Image: Alternatively, you can upload an image as an attachment to the issue. This option is great for adding visual context or branding.

Your issue's card cover will now reflect the changes, making it easier for team members to recognize important information at a glance.deve.png

Greetings, and have caution when using card covers on boards with many issues with cover images as there are known performance problems with caching the images: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWCLOUD-25553

Kind regards,
Bill

I tested this yesterday and something is not as it should.

I can see the cover on the board, but it is not visible for my coworkers

Hi everyone, for other colleagues to see it, each person needs to go to their settings (see the image) and uncheck the “Cover images” option.

Okay, but the "NEW" tag on the menu item is causing the "three dots" button on the first card on my board to CONSTANTLY GLOW AND PULSE WITH NO WAY TO STOP IT.

Show me the feature once and then get out of the way. I don't need Atlassian to constantly push glowing animations in my face the entire time I'm trying to get work done.

The "NEW" tag on the menu, is causing the "three dots" button to glow and pulse continuously. Consider adding a user option to dismiss or acknowledge the "NEW" tag, which would stop the animation. Alternatively, adjust the behavior so the pulsing effect ceases after a short period or once the user interacts with the menu. This change would enhance usability and reduce unnecessary distractions for users.
