Change the status of multiple issues directly from the backlog

Hi Jira Community,

Our team has been working hard to bring you an even quicker way of transitioning issues in Jira. Instead of navigating to our original bulk change experience, you can now select multiple issues and transition them to a new status directly from the backlog.

To transition multiple issues from the backlog:

  1. Select multiple issues from the backlog. You can either:

    1. Use the issue checkboxes

    2. Hold Ctrl (Windows) or Command (Mac) while selecting issues

    3. Hold the Shift key to select a group of adjacent issues

  2. Once you’ve chosen the issues you’d like to edit, select Edit > Status.

  3. Select a status from the dropdown. If your selected issues don’t share the same statuses or transitions, this will open the bulk edit sidebar. Issues from the same workflow will be grouped together and you can select a new status for each group.

Now you can update the status of multiple issues and enjoy the feeling of moving all that hard work to ‘done’!

Thanks from the Atlassian team

This is an awesome feature - this will be really helpful for clearing out duplicates in the backlog.

For those of you who are visual learners like me, here are the same instructions but in a step-by-step/guided walkthrough

Will this also become available in the non cloud JIRA?

Is this only in Service Project, or is it in Software Project too? Can you only see Backlog per Project and not across all Projects?
