Hi, Everyone,
I am fairly new to working in JIRA and am just now understanding the differentiation between all of the JIRA products. For context, I am a senior instructional designer at my organization, but I am also our analyst and lead project manager. Thus, I am trying to see how our training materials production work can be managed and streamlined so we can see all of the deliverables in production for our grantees and internal colleagues in one place.
I have identified a template in JIRA Work Management that should help my department with outlining all of our deliverables and the associated work to get them developed, but I am struggling to configure a Kanban board so we can each see our work tasks easily. At this point I have the following questions:
Thanks for your help!
Hello @Jennifer Rivers
Welcome to the Atlassian community.
When you create a project from a Jira Work Management project template a basic kanban-like board is automatically created with it. Example:
1. This board does not include the capability to display based on horizontal swimlanes across the status columns. The Group By option you see in the upper right sets up vertical groupings. You could use that to change the columns to be per Assignee, but you would not also see the issues organized by their statuses.
2. If you want to maintain the columns as Status and be able to also show horizontal swimlanes per Assignee then you would need to create a separate, true Kanban board for this project. That functionality is provided by the Jira Software product. If you have licensed only Jira Work Management you may not have access to that functionality.
Jira Work Management and Jira Software are being merged into a single product. Refer to following for more information.

First you would need to create and save a Filter to select all the issues in this project.

You would then create a new board based on that saved filter.

3. Currently there is not a board selection list available in JWM.
4. If you want to make additional boards available within the JWM project space you could add Shortcuts to each additional board.
Thank you, Trudy, for the quick reply and for such a detailed answer to my questions!
