"Add to Existing" option for Custom Fields during Bulk Edit operation

Balaji Guttula April 21, 2020

Hi,

On Jira Server Version during the Bulk Edit operation "Add to Existing option" is available only for System Fields like Components/Labels.  Is there any option to achieve the same behavior for Custom Fields ??

Right now for custom fields, during the Bulk Edit operation,  If we provide any new values,  it will always overwrites existing values on the issues and replaces the old values with new values. There is no option to append the values by keeping the old values intact.

Hello @Balaji Guttula

Thank you for reaching out.

Indeed, Jira Server does not have an option to keep the existing values for custom fields when bulk updating issues. We understand how useful this functionality would be, so we created the following feature request to consider its implementation:

Allow adding values in bulk change for multi-select custom fields

Feel free to vote and watch the suggestion to increase its priority and also receive notifications about any updates.

As a workaround for some use cases, there are some third-party apps and options that can help you achieve this. Please, take a look at the comments of the feature request to have more information about this.

Let us know if you have any questions.
