You will need some apps to provide the extra layers, depending on how far up the scaling route you want to go.

Atlassian's line is that Advanced Roadmaps is the recommendation for smaller teams trying to scale, but once you've got over 500 people, you probably should be looking at Jira Align.

In the marketplace, there are other apps that can help, in several ways.  Check out the ones with the words "Structure", "Picture", "Program" or "Agile" in their names.

Hi,

You will need a plugin for that.  With Ativo Programs, you can plan the PI on a virtual Program Board in Jira, and perform an art-sync or scrum of scrums afterwards.

You can also use Ativo Programs to raise program risks/impediments, set Red/Amber/Green indicators and tag features as committed / uncommitted.

With kind regards,

Edwin

It's not an add-on, it's a fully-fledged product in its own right, one built for managing SAFe right the way up through all the layers, as well as handling the other scaled Agile frameworks (Large Scale Scrum, Disciplined Agile, and so on).  It uses Jira as the lowest layer, covering Feature (Epics in Jira) / Story / Sub-task.

It's not a minor undertaking or just an app, you are looking at multiple release trains at the very least before it kicks into full swing, and unless you've got 500+ developers, it's probably not right for you.
