best upgrade path

Hi,

Im currently running 6.4.11 and would like to upgrade to 8 and wondered what the best/easiest path to do so. I was thinking 7.0 and then 8.1?

could i skip 7.0?

also what are the other system dependencies (tomcat, ubuntu version)? as I'm runnign an old 12.04 LTS version.

Hi @odecroupette  while upgrading we should not skip the major versions. Since it has all the changes.

We upgraded JIRA 5.1.6 -> 7.0.11 (major version) -> 7.12.3 

Better test upgrading 6.4.11 -> 7.0.11 ->8.0.2 ->8.1
