How to change the current workflow in JIRA

Welcome to the Community!

To changes the workflow in Jira, first, you must have Jira Admin rights.

If so, then you can go to Admin --> Issues and then select the Workflow.

You will find all the workflows listed out there, select the existing workflow and copy it and provide the details name and all.

Once done this the copied workflow will be listed out in Inactive workflows so select the workflow and edit it and do the changes as you want.

Copy the workflow scheme and add the existing workflow (new created) to this copied workflow scheme and then associate this workflow scheme to the respective project.

What exactly error you are getting and if possible could you please let me know the steps that you have been followed and attache the screenshot of the error.
