Why is the Jira issues list retaining old search criteria and removed columns?

I have 2 issues:

- when I go into the issues list page, Jira is holding onto a word I searched for days ago and no longer want to search for

- I added an extra column to the display which seems to be too wide to display. I have removed it, but jira still displays it - actually only that column and none of the others until I select my default view.

 

I have cleared down my browsing history to no avail. We're using v6.4.6

@sian hamer do you recall if you were using a filter? Recently ran into a similar issue and it was due a filter.
