User can't manage Sprints despite having permission as Project Administrato and Sprint Manager

Yuliia Vyborova February 27, 2024

Hello!
User can't create or edit Sprint however he was able to do that a day before. This morning the user was granted Project Administrator and Sprint Admin role in the Dr Core Jira project and now he can't manage current sprint, no 3 dots available (but still can manage the old sprints, see screenshot). Why user can't manage cuurent Sprint and create a new one? Was that because of granted permissions?

Hi @Yuliia Vyborova ~ does the board filter include issues across multiple projects?  If so, your user would need the Manage Sprints permission in all projects referenced in the board filter.

Adding to this...

The board filter must explicitly define the projects that are in scope for the board.

If you board filter uses only criteria that does not explicitly define the projects, or uses an OR operator to include a statement that does not explicitly define the project, then Jira will require the user to have the Manage Sprint permission in every project on the Jira instance.

Note using a criteria, for instance "Component=A", where the results end up all being from a subset of projects is not the same as explicitly setting the projects for the filter.

If you share the filter with us, we can point out if this is the case.
