Unable to receive JIRA notifications

I am using the JIRA trial with the intent of purchasing.  I have had JIRA for years internally but for some reason I am having difficulties with getting any notifications from JIRA issues.  For example, I created a new issue - nothing.  I updated an existing issue with a comment - nothing.  I commented on another persons issue - nothing.  In my on premise, I receive pretty everything related to issues when I open them - initial, comments, status changes,etc.  I don't get notified on other JIRAs unless I watch them, which is fine.

I have looked everywhere in hosted trial site and I can't seem to get this to work.  Help!!

Are you expecting to receive notifications of your own actions?

If so, you need to change the settings in your profile to allow you to be updated on your own actions. 

Click on your icon>personal settings and change "Notification of your changes" to "Notify Me"
