The .tar.gz file doesn't contain a .tar file

I'm trying to install Jira Software in my server, however when I do 

$ tar -xzf atlassian-jira-software-X.X.X.tar.gz -C <installation-directory>
$ cd <installation-directory>

I get this 

$ ls
atlassian-jira-software-8.1.0-standalone

Hello Daniel,

the command that you are running will extract the files in the <installation-directory> without any extra steps. You can follow the installation guide as if you followed the steps to extract the files from the .tar file.

I will get in touch with the responsible for the installation guide to get this page updated.
