The pie chart gadget on the dashboard page is not showing the drop down list when you hover over it

Mark Ng September 13, 2021

Hi, I just noticed that the pie chart gadget is not displaying a drop of items when you hover over it if that field has more than a few items in it. It was working for me earlier today.

Is this a defect or did this feature get changed?

Hello @Mark Ng

Welcome to the community.

Are you looking at the built-in Pie Chart gadget or one added by a third party app?

What sort of drop down are you expecting to see? This is what I see, but only when I click on the pie section. I don't see anything if I just hover the mouse over a pie section.

We don't use the dashboard gadgets much. I just experiment with them to answer questions, so I don't recall if there was different behavior before today.

Hi @Trudy Claspill i'm looking at the built-in pie chart gadget, in my chart i have several fields that show the percentage of each field, one of the fields i have contains 38 items and earlier today when i select that field it is called a generic 'other' because it contains the rest of the fields of the jira project when I hover over it usually displays inside a smaller box with all of the linked fields. Now it doesn't so i'm wondering if something got updated.

If we use the above diagram you have, if i hover over the red section which would be in my chart the 'other' field, a mini-box similar to the 'done' box above will show a list of the fields individually which are selectable if i hover over it. Now the box is gone.

Did this feature get updated?

Also clicking on each slice of the pie (which is all the fields in your project) no longer brings you to the fields/link page of tickets. So maybe that's the root of the issue. So in the above diagram if i click on the red it normally brings me to a page with a list of all the fields associated tickets, now it does nothing when i click on the red slice.

I did find a workaround to this, i used the quick pie chart and that pretty much helps me out as it lists out all the fields. Thanks!

I managed to create a pie chart that gave me an Other slice like you described, where the Statistic was set to Assignee, and Other lumped together multiple Assignees.

I don't get any additional info if I just hover the cursor over a slice, other than the center of the pie showing the percentage and the name for the slice.

When I click on the slices of the pie that are not "Other" (slices that are for individual Assignees) I get a pop-up that has a link that says "View in Issue Navigator" which will take me to the issue navigator with the list for that slice of the pie.

When I click on the Other slice I get a pop-up that gives me links for each of the Assignees that are part of that slice, and those links take me to the issue navigator with the list of issues for that Assignee.

I'm not sure if this matches the scenario you see, or if it behaved differently before today, but I hope the information is useful to you.

Thanks @Trudy Claspill for the update and the screenshots of what you see. When I click on the slices i get no pop-ups that allow me to view it in a navigator, also i don't get any pop-ups when clicking on a slice.

The behaviour definately changed for me starting yesterday where I would previously get the pop-ups as you mentioned but also hovering over the slice text would also give me the pop-up for the links/assignees.

Thanks.

Have you tried different browsers, or clearing the cache of your preferred browser?

Have you checked the Developer Tools for the browser to see if any errors are being reported?

Mark Ng September 14, 2021

Yes I also tried this in firefox and chrome both are giving me the same issues. I cleared the cache as well and same issue. I get the following error in the console but i'm not sure if it gives enough info for the issue. Image 2021-09-14 at 9.53.34 AM.jpg

Thanks.
