We had one of our team leads recently depart from our organization and they had created a large number of subscriptions for the filters that they created. As an administrator I am trying to remove some of the unwanted subscriptions that others are getting and when I try to find these filters they are not visible in my list of filters and when I try to go directly to the filter subscription using a URL link in an email (via the subscription others receive) I get the following message:
The selected filter is not available to you, perhaps it has been deleted or had it's permissions changed.
I'm trying to remove specific subscriptions from filters, how can this be done from the front end administrative screens.
FYI we are using JIRA 4.1.1 at this time
Hi Bill,
Is the filter a shared filter? If it is, then you might be able to change the ownership of the filter to be under you, and subsequently edit/remove the subscriptions.
If not, perhaps you can check out this Knowledge Base article that also has some suggestions about this situation - Deleting Other Users Filters and Subscriptions
This seems like the correct solution for non-private filters
Note: edit shared filters ownership here: Administration -> System -> Shared Items -> Shared Filters. You can search on the owner of the filter so it's easy to retrieve all the filters for that user.
For private filters :
You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
We have recently upgraded to Jira 6 and with that most recent upgrade JIRA has allowed administrators to see all filters that have been created and allow us to edit them as we see fit. This is no longer an issue for us, but nice to see input on this long standing request.

Use the SU Plugin to login as the user who left and remove those subscriptions.

The other option is to do it in DB.

The SU Plugin is a good idea, too bad it is a plugin that charges, which prevents me from using.
I do not have access to the database, but is there no other way that this can be done?

This function is also available in script runner - https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.onresolve.jira.groovy.groovyrunner
