Show linked issue on board card

Hello,

we have the following situation. Imagine two teams A and B. Both of them have their individual projects for planning their work. So far no problem. But now it gets a little tricky, Team A has an Issue where also work from Team B is required. (keep in mind they are independently planned). So the Idea is, that Team A creates a issue for Team B and link the two issues together. So now the work of Team A for their issue is blocked until Team B is finished.

The question is, how to show this on the Scrum/Kanban Board of Team A?

One posibility could be to create a new state and wait until Team B is done. But if there are several Issues to handle it will be a little bit complicated always to go in detail of the ticket and check the linked issue state.

My prefered way will be to show the linked Issue state on the Card of the Issue from Team A. Any idea how to do this - writing a plugin myself is a considerable option if necessary.

Kind Regards

Oliver

There is no way to include the linked issue status on the card. I had a similar situation at one point and will share here in case it helps.

  • project A and project B work in independent scrums and boards
  • project A needed support from one resource in project B
  • Team A would create issues in project A for resource in team B
  • project B’s board filter was adjusted to consider and include the project A issues assigned to the shared resource
  • project B would consider the issues of project A during their sprint planning. Scrum master of project A was invited to Project B’s sprint planning.

i realize this isn’t precisely your scenario but maybe it provides some ideas that assist.

hey jack,  that was something i also considered something like that also but was aware due to a lot of configuration stuff ... in reality I have up to 4 Project A and one Project B :-) but i play along with that.

So you have placed a filter on a dedicated group of users assigned Team B?

Cause i currendly implement your solution like that:

  • Change JQL for Board Team B to show everything
    • from Project B
    • or (Project A and assigned to member of Team B)

so my filters were something like this

  • Board A - project = ProjectA
  • Board B - project = ProjectB OR (project = ProjectA and assignee = shared-resource)

okay .. so you create a "shared-resource" user for the initial assignment ?

is there a way to show the linked issues in the backlog view?
