Logging Work connected to comments

One of our users is writing his "comments" by the log work function.
So, no comments, and therefore no notifications.
How can we connect the work log to comments to get this user using comments without having to add work log next to it.

What is the purpose of get comment? 

If you aim is get notification about log work, let's review your notification scheme.

Thanks for your quick reply. I''ll study the links tomorrow. CEU Time Amsterdam.
The aim is to get notifications about what has been done for a solution of the issue.
This user of us is commenting on the wrong function, namly the work-log. He does that because he want his work logged.....
