We are still on a server license and are looking at whether we want to go to Data Center or the Cloud. During our analysis, we found some security vulnerabilities in our current Jira version (8.20.30). We are not ready to go to the cloud or data center yet, so we are just upgrading to the last supported Server version (9.12.4) to secure the vulnerability ASAP.

What is the proper upgrade path for Jira Server 8.20.30 to 9.12.4?

Hope this helps

#As per Atlassian there is no product support for Jira server edition

#what you can do is get new DC or hybrid license (works for both cloud and DC) from Atlassian apply same license to current instance it become DC Jira with single instance thats fine then upgrade your  Jira from 8.x to 9.x directly without intermediate path

#then plan for cloud or stay on DC

I've just upgraded my Stage environment directly from 8.20.26 to 9.12.4. Outside of an interesting bug where it chown'd all of the files under the installation directory to root:root, it was pretty straightforward. We're running Jira on a RHEL8 two-node cluster.

I'm on Data Center, not Server, but I assume that it would be basically the same.
