How do I select the sprint for a ticket on a next gen scrum board?

When creating a new ticket for my next gen scrum board, JIRA does not give me the option to select a Sprint. If I want to add a newly created ticket to the current sprint, I must first create the ticket in the backlog and then drag it to the new Sprint. Is there something simple that I am missing?

Hello,

That is right. You should move a ticket from the backlog to a sprint.
