Finding saved filters that use a specific Status, how many of them and updating them?

FMchar April 18, 2024
Looking at renaming a workflow status
Before doing so I'd like to understand:
  1. How many filters will be impacted by this change that use the existing workflow status name?
  2. Is there a way to bulk update the filters with the new workflow status?
Is there any way of doing this, please?
Thank you in advance

Hi @FMchar There is no easy way to find the filters where particular status is used and changing the status name in workflow will have a system wide impact on all the references that old status name is used like

  • All issues belongs to that status will updated with new status name.
  • All filters having the old status name in the JQL will be affected
  • All Dashboards will be affected if using the old status name in filter query.
  • All board quick filters, card color, sub-filters will be affected
  • If you using Advance Roadmap then if filters or boards using as a source for those plans will be affected if using the old status name.
  • You may need to update workflow transition name as well if that is reflecting the old status name.

It was easy in Jira DC/Server as we can get that details from the Power admin plugin in Jira or running the database query against the filter table and can built a script to replace the same with new status name.

You may need to raise the Atlassian support ticket to get these details in Jira cloud as we don't have access to the Jira cloud database.

Best,

Sagar
