In the advanced roadmap I have updated the view settings to group by components. On the main page I see two epics that appear both under their component's section and also under the "All other issues" section. Why do these epics appear twice? Are there any obvious places I should check to correct this issue?

Hello @Aaron Ferguson ,

The duplicate Epic comes from the components, either multiple components on a single epic, or multiple child issues with different components, or the child issue has a component and the Epic does not.  Basically, the parent issue will display in every lane that it has at least one issue in its hierarchy connected to the grouping defined for that lane.

For example, in the following screenshots, I have a few configurations to highlight some of the duplications that can occur by mismatching values across groupings:

  • In the first one, the epic ASDF-14 does not have a component but all the child issue have component A so the epic shows up Under "all other issues" because the epic does not have a component directly but also shows under the "Component A" lane grouping because of the hierarchy tie to the child issues it is connected to.

  • In this one ASDF-12 has component A and all child issues have component A as well so it only shows up under Component A

  • next, ASDF-13 has component A directly associated to the Epic, a child issues also in Component A, one in component B, and one without a component, So the Epic is tied to and shown under all three lanes as it is linked to at least one issue in each location to maintain the hierarchy relationship:

Hope this helps clarify things, but let me know if you have additional questions.

Regards,
Earl

This was a thorough answer, thank you! I'll look through my plan and make sure that I'm viewing it with this context.
