Can you generate a burn-up chart for an entire backlog?

Deleted user May 16, 2018

I would like to be able to have a burn-up chart report that shows the progress across the entire backlog rather than just for 1 sprint. Does anyone know if this is possible?

Thanks

Dee

Getting charts based on metrics across sprints or program backlogs which are further divided into project backlogs is not something which is provided out of box in JIRA. You can use reporting plugins like Dataplane or eazyBI for this purpose. I use dataplane currently. Here's some docs about it  http://www.arsenalesystems.com/docs/display/dataplane/Comparing+Metrics+Across+Sprints

FYI to others - Dataplane is Server only, and eazyBI is pricey

Thanks for your comment.
eazyBI is actually available for all Jira platforms – Jira Cloud, Jira Server, and Jira Data Center and support standard and custom fields not only from Jira Software, but also from Jira Service Desk, Bamboo, Bitbasket, and many popular test management, project management, time management, and asset management apps. In addition, eazyBI also supports data import from external data sources like SQL databases, REST API sources, etc., making it a powerful general-purpose business intelligence tool beyond Atlassian ecosystem.

eazyBI app license prices are adjusted to be a small percentage compared to Jira license costs for larger teams. Even if there are only a dozen users creating eazyBI reports, there are usually many others using/viewing reports and charts in Jira dashboards, confluence pages, or embedded sites. The biggest value of eazyBI comes from sharing the information. You can use detailed project-level status reports and dashboards internally within teams and project members, and provide relevant overview cross-project reports for all other levels of organization management.

Timely and accurate information is crucial for effective project management and data-driven decision making. We’ve also had eazyBI users telling how they’ve seen an increase in productivity, motivation, efficiency in the team after sharing project-related stats with the whole team. The value comes from sharing, leverage it!

In eazyBI you can create burn-down and burn-up charts for one or several Sprints or Epics or other points of view as well.

You may take a look at eazyBI demo account where are some examples of burn-down charts for an epic in several Sprints, and for a single Sprint. Of course, you are not limited to those examples and may create custom reports which suit best to your business case.

Hello,

I am just curious, why would you like to see progress across the entire backlog if backlog actually has no progress. Only tasks in sprints have progress.

Hi Alexey

I want to be able to track progress over the whole backlog of story points completed so far vs story points still to be worked on. This, together with the team's velocity, will give me a good indication of our projected completion date.
