Can you exclude issues in control chart that are in backlog?

The average cycle time in control chart is influenced by issues that are open in backlog making the average number very high.  I want to compute average using the issues that are only in sprints and selected for working.

I assumed that control chart shows only the issues are in the current sprint board but on further research I found out that there are issues plotted on the chart that are in backlog and in open status also.

One of the 10 dashboard gadgets included is the Control Chart gadget, which is based on a Jira filter and is fully customizable. You can decide what issue are considered, by adjusting the filter's query.
