Can you duplicate issue fields for multiple projects

Colleen August 13, 2020

We've created parameters for issues within multiple projects, like adding start date and due date, but to incorporate these under multiple projects is extremely time consuming to do manually. Is there a way to clone, or make a template, of the issue type settings and apply it to all issues under all projects?

Hey Colleen - If they are Next-gen projects, then unfortunately, no. They are all created independently including each custom field, status, etc.

You would need to create Classic Software projects to get the shared objects and be able to create projects based on existing projects/templates.

Aha! Thank you

Hey,

if you have administrator rights, you can easily change the issuetype schema (and any other schema) to the customized one.

https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/associating-issue-types-with-projects-938847092.html

see "Choosing a project's issue type scheme"

Same for screens (custom fields view) https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/associating-screen-and-issue-operation-mappings-with-an-issue-type-938847305.html

Cheers

Thanks for your response! I got to the issue type screen schemes area and altered the default template, and the changes are reflected there, but when I create new projects they don't have these options included, and it's just the original settings again. How do I get these changes to take affect on new projects or across current projects?jira1.jpg

Even small changes applied within the projects don't seem to apply, for example, adding "task" as the default but "story" continuing to appear firstdefault.jpg
