Can we disable the user directory we have (active directory)

VL May 13, 2021

We use Jira Software, Jira Service Desk and Confluence products.

For our hosted Jira Software instance only, is it possible for us to switch off the User Directory (sync'd with our Active Directory) so we can manually manage our users directly in Jira Software?

Hi VL,

You can follow the process described at:

https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/migrating-from-external-directory-to-jira-internal-user-directory-968659306.html

It is a manual process, but achievable.

Thanks, is it possible to just pause or disable the refresh but leave the data in place that has been pulled in from AD?

By logging in with a local user from the Jira Internal directory, you can disable the AD account, which will leave everything in the database as is - but remove them from view from user management etc.
