Can I put multiple tasks next to each other in one column?

I am trying to fit our scrum board on one page to show it at the stand up on the beamer. I am able to fit more stuff on the page by zooming out, but JIRA is only showing one task per row in one column resulting in a lot of white space while not everything fits.

Is it possible allow JIRA to show multiple tasks next to each other.

Kinda like how Visual Studio Online does it:

Out of the box jira-agile does not provide this feature.

You can however tweak the code to see if that's possible.
