On Jira Service Management, some templates already contain an automation rule that does that, but if it doesn’t, there is one on the automation library where you can just edit to add the desired statuses.
Please, go to Project settings > Automation > Automation. Click on Library and select “When a comment is added > update the status”.
Then, you can edit the statuses to the desired ones.
This automation will work for any comment added via email or via the portal.
