difference between external and internal customers

someone asked me what can internal customers do that external customers don't.

does anyone have an answer? :/

Hello

The primary difference is visibility to customers. In the customer portal, Internal comments are not visible, while external comments are.

In terms of functionality, they are the same. The comments have the same features weather internal or external. One benefit to internal comments is that if your instance of Jira has other licensed users, say for Jira software, that do not have a JSM license, they are able to make and read internal comments assuming your privilege scheme is setup correctly.
