When custom field "Implementation team" value changes require "Comment" field to be completed

Maurice Mushfieldt April 16, 2024

Hi, I have various issue types set against my project with a few workflows for them. I know how to get the Comment field to be forced via field validation but this will not work as I am trying to set automation rule when a custom field (Implementation team) value changes across all issue types, require reporter to complete the Comment field.

Tried but not successful as the "Comment" field is not showing for select as per below example ?

Hi Maurice

You can't use Automation to force a field to be populated - that is a workflow function with a validator as you mentioned. You would need to do the same thing you do on the other one except you would have to do it on all workflows used by the project.

Adding a comment is a different action:

However the only way you can request that an input be provided by a user in an automation is when using a manually triggered automation
