We are looking to track location of physical assets, as well as software versions etc and need a tool which can capture and update the CMDB as and when it spots changes.
I believe there is an insight tool for Jira asset management? but its hard to track down much info on that. Do people generally use a specialist 3rd party tool and integrate it with Jira?
Thanks
@Tom langton you can do this Asset Discovery (networks scanning tool). You can refer to this link for more information:
You can just use Atlassian Assets which is an application component of JSM Cloud out of the box (at no additional costs) for customers on a Premium or above subscriptions. It integrate with Jira/JSM directly. Here are the reference guide on Atlassian Assets (formally known as Insight - an application that acquired by Atlassian a few years ago).
Hope this helps.

Thanks for this- I believe we have Atlassian assets setup and being used, its more of the maintenance/discovery of physical and software assets within the estate we are now looking to work on, I think the Lansweeper perhaps is what we need, or perhaps Snow etc, but was hoping there may be similar included within an Atlassian plugin

Have you checked out https://www.lansweeper.com/
And here is the Lansweeper for Jira CMDB integration https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1231444/lansweeper-app-for-jira-service-management-assets?hosting=cloud&tab=overview
