Hello,
New to Jira.
Trying to establish if editing a workflow within a project will impact other projects it is associated with. I am assuming any workflow can be part of a workflow scheme that is assigned to several different projects. Or, is a copy created, assigned to the workflow scheme per the project your working in, while leaving the original workflow in tact?
Hello @Drew Montagna ! Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
Yes, on business-managed projects, if you change a workflow the changes apply to all projects that use that workflow. This could happen with multiple projects using the same workflow scheme or each project on separate workflow schemes that have the same workflow in them.
Hi Robert,
Thanks for the fast response.
I'm using the free instance of Jira, in a company managed project.
I would assume the new workflow affects only new issue types as they are added to the project(s), correct? Is it any different on team based projects?
You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
Also, I cannot see where I would add the project columns that correspond to the new statuses I now have, based on the new workflow.

Let me see if I answer your questions.
1. Any workflow changes will affect ALL issue types associated as defined by the workflow schemes. In fact, if the changes involve removing statuses, it will prompt you to remap the removed statuses. It will be similar on team-managed projects.
2.You need to go to the configuration of boards to map columns with any new statuses.

I'm clear with answer 1.
Is the 'configuration of boards' at the admin level, or project level?
Can you supply an example path?
Thanks for your help.

Here is the documentation. https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/configure-columns/
A project admin or the board admin can configure the columns on a board.
