Volume graph based on sums in number field

Dan Foster March 26, 2024

Hi All,

I am looking at some assistance in tracking ticket volumes.  Currently users submit a form to us, and a field in that form is a number field they specify, "Number of X".  Part of that same form is the territory the user operates out of.

I'd like to provide stats that provide totals from that number field per territory, weekly / monthly / yearly etc.

Can anyone assist with this?  We have this implemented for # of tickets submitted, but we may receive 10 tickets with 1 item, or 1 ticket with 10 items, and we'd like to track # of items as well as # of tickets.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Out of the box, I would recommend that you can create saved JQL filter queries where you are getting the issues data, then you can use those filters and create a Dashboard in the project UI.  In side the dashboard, you can utilize the different reporting gadgets to use your filter queries to display the issue data.

Please take a look at the following reference links on Dashboard setup -

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-service-management-cloud/docs/manage-dashboards-and-gadgets/

https://support.atlassian.com/analytics/docs/explore-dashboard-templates/

Hope this helps and give you some ideas.  NOTE - you can also look into Atlassian Marketplace for third party add-ons for supporting enhanced functionality on dashboard reporting - Example: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1223898?tab=overview&utm_medium=article&utm_source=hub.appfire.com&hosting=cloud  (By Appfire - Dashboard Hub Pro - Chart, Report, Diagram, External Share.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Joseph, we've put together a number of different dashboards however currently we can only figure out how to count the number of tickets themselves, and we'd like to instead count the number entered in this custom number field.

So if we had 3 tickets with "10" entered into this field, the result would be 30.

It looks like out of the box Dashboard gadgets are limited and don't give you the ability to provide total of custom field.  You will need to review possible third party add-on that give you the enhanced gadgets setup for Dashboard/reporting functionality.  Example:

https://marketplace.atlassian.com/search?hosting=cloud&product=jira-service-management&query=Dashboard%20Gadget

https://marketplace.atlassian.com/search?hosting=cloud&product=jira-service-management&query=Dashboard%20report

Or you other option will be export your filter search results to Excel and generate reports.

Sorry.

Best, Joseph
