Unable to set Security level on issue create through Automation for Jira

Hello guys,

I've just started using the Issue Security Level functionality and one thing I want to do with it is to set it automatically.

Unfortunately with the Issue create action I am not able to set it despite giving the Automation all the needed permissions.

However when I do an automation with the Edit issue action then I can configure the Security level.

I want to know whether there is a way to set the Security Level through the Issue create action because not being able to do so will mean to create a second automation the tracks all the created issues that might need to get a Security Level change and this comes with a lot of cons for us.

is your security level always the same during the creation? If so, it is possible to set some level as default - then all the issues will be created with this security level and you don't need to set it using automation.

Be default they have Security Level A. I have a specific automation that has to create a new issue with Security Level B. I am unable to do so and I want to avoid creating extra automations just to Edit the Security level.

If there's some default security level defined, you probably won't be able to set any other during the issue create action. But I think you can create automation rule with 2 steps

  1. first one will create the issue (with the default security level)
  2. the second one will update security level for all created issues


Unfortunatelly I'm on the free plan and I'm not able to test it (it is not possible to use security levels), but I believe it could work.

Actually I don't know what just happened but I managed to create an issue with the right security level through the issue create action. Sorry for taking your time.
