Transfer a Jira Software Project to Jira Service Management (including issue types/automations)

Jon Iverson January 31, 2023

I inherited a fully functional Jira Software project with lots of issue types and automations created that Management would like to migrate to Jira Service Management (since as is we're needing to provide licenses for everyone in the company to create requests).

Is there an easy way to migrate the Jira Software project to a JSM project, keeping the issues types and automations for each? (I don't need to migrate any existing issues, just the project framework)

Hi @Jon Iverson - You can share issue type, screen, workflow, and issue type screen, field configuration, permission, and notification schemes between the projects.  You just need to go into Project Settings >> Summary on your JSM project and switch the schemes to the respective software schemes.  Automation rules would need to be recreated.
